The MRV Libraries announce the winners of 11th annual Peeps® Diorama Competition. The exhibit, which featured 27 book-themed dioramas using marshmallow Peeps® as characters, visited all three libraries between March 21-April 4. Members of the public viewed the exhibit and voted on their favorite in each category. The winner in the multigenerational, teen, or adult category was "Vernon's Magic Shop," created by Everybody Wins mentor/mentee pair Hayden Lashar and Susanne Lowen, inspired by the book The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris. In the 8-12 age category, the winner was "Stinky Peep" by Nora Conti, inspired by Jeff Kinney's book Diary of a Wimpy Kid. In the under 8 category, the winner was "Where the Wild Peeps Are" by Jackson Mitchell, inspired by Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are. The MRV Libraries thank all participants for their creative contributions.

Girls Who Code AI Literacy Unit
Wednesdays April 29 -May 27
3:00-4:00 pm
The Girls Who Code mission is to inspire, educate, and champion girls, women, and nonbinary people to become changemakers in tech. In this 5-day session for grades 3-6, we will learn what AI is, how AI systems use patterns to make decisions, and use Teachable Machine to create and test a simple AI model. Through these exercises, we will also ask who AI helps, who it might hurt, and how it can be made more fair for everyone.
This session will run with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 students. To register for the club, you will need to first create a parent account with Girls Who Code HQ and then register your child. It's a multi-step process, so please follow the instructions here. You may also watch this video walk-through of the registration.
When prompted, enter our club code VT 67713. When you get to the step of registering your child, please create a username and password that your child can remember.
